Universal Prime Education
The struggle against illiteracy and ignorance requires patience and dedication. Saba Aslam Education and Welfare Trust believes education is a right and an obligation for all, and endeavors to provide opportunities for basic education to many Pakistani children who either can’t afford tuition fees or supplies. Saba Trust works with other national organizations to help transform Pakistani society through education.

Universal Primary Education (UPE) is a UNICEF sponsored program operating in Murree and Kotli Satian districts. Young children are enrolled in primary education and their parents are motivated not to have their children drop out of school during these critical education years. Ultimately the plan is to make primary education compulsory.

SABA is helping needy primary school children by providing books, school supplies and other materials. SABA also conducts a prize distribution program to help motivate children and give them additional incentives to attend and complete school. SABA’s efforts in this regard currently assist over 10,000 students.

We believe our programs are icing on the cake — along with the UPE program, we are helping to achieve the goal of mass primary education. Insha’ Allah we will not only continue our program, but will improve it.

Br. Najib, Saba Aslam Trust’s local functionary, is instrumental in incorporating this program into UPE’s efforts. He visits the schools periodically
