The struggle against illiteracy
and ignorance requires patience and dedication. Saba Aslam Education and
Welfare Trust believes education is a right and an obligation for all, and endeavors
to provide opportunities for basic education to many Pakistani children who either
can’t afford tuition fees or supplies. Saba Trust works with other national organizations
to help transform Pakistani society through education.

Tameer-e-Millat Foundation is
a not-for-profit organization working to promote literacy and quality education
throughout Pakistan. This endeavor is made possible by dedicated workers and educators
in Pakistan and non-resident Pakistanis abroad who wish to see conditions in their
home country improve. Even after 50 years of independence, only 41% of the Pakistani
population is literate. Furthermore, a “brain drain” of educated Pakistanis to other countries compounds the problem.

Tameer-e-Millat Foundation
was established by highly educated, patriotic Pakistanis living in the USA who realized
the gravity of the situation in Pakistan. TMF’s vision is of a Pakistan with a 100%
literary rate. A number of programs have been established to work towards this goal,
including the founding of schools for children in every rural and urban area of
Pakistan. To date, Tameer-e-Millat Foundation has established the following: |
- 20 formal schools
- 247 non-formal schools
- 2 centers of Information Technology
- 5 Vocational Training Institutes
- a regular Teacher Training System
- monthly Tameer-e-Millat News &
Literature for teachers, students and the general public

Thousands of students are enrolled
in the various schools and training centers. The overwhelming majority of students
(72%) are female. InshaAllah, within a generation, the literate and educated class
in Pakistan will have a much broader base, bringing greater stability, democracy,
ingenuity and economic prosperity to Pakistan |
